Historical Movie Fix

Some days you might just want to sit in front of a screen and escape...
The following are a few of my favorite TV shows to watch.

Vikings (2013 - ongoing)

How can you go wrong with Vikings? Between the love, fighting and intrigue this show quickly became one of my most anticipated shows to watch. I also appreciated the amount of historical accuracy they managed to add to the show. It's not perfect but I believe this show comes pretty darn close. I stumbled across it while waiting for something to watch in between episodes of Game of Thrones and I was immediately blown away.

Tudors (2007-2010)

Why did this show have to end? By the time the show aired I had already read several novels about the Tudors. This just fed my obsession with the story of King Henry VIII and his six wives. Despite the inaccuracies this was a thoroughly enjoyable show and the actors were fantastic.

The White Queen (2013) & The White Princess (Coming soon)

Based on the novel by Philippa Gregory this mini-series was perhaps bleak at times but the overall story and characters pulled it through to make it one of those shows that I always go back to re-watch an episode or two. If you enjoyed Philippa Gregory's novels then you will enjoy this series which combines books from the Cousin's War Series.

War & Peace

Hello, Lilly James! This mini-series premiered this January and so far it was fantastic. Based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy, I thought the first episode started off with a bang. Set in Russia during the war with Napoleon it focuses on the Russian perspective. I cannot wait for more. It was simply beautiful.
